Demand

There is a growing recognition of the need for truly inclusive spaces at events and festivals. For example, our own J-Fest sold out of accessible glamping pods within 4 days of launching, with some attendees traveling for more than four hours just to be with us. This overwhelming response highlights the demand for the unique services we offer.

1 in 5 people in the UK have a disability, with approximately 14.1 million people affected. This shows a significant market demand for accessible services and experiences, including glamping.

We saw on the BBC One show about the J-Fest and I breathed a sigh of relief, at last an inclusive festival where we wouldn’t have to battle!!!! My son googled it and we got tickets sorted. He also asked if he could DJ?

As soon as we arrived at the camp ground we were welcomed by Kyley and crew and taken to the accessible glamping where I nearly cried. So much care and thought had gone into our two night stay. My son needs a profile bed for sleep and about 8 plug sockets to charge everything power chair computer and so on, with a hoist to lift him. Everything had been thought of including a finish touch of tinsel on the guy lines it was stunning!

My son DJ’s using his eye gaze technology to mix sounds and create music. He was able for the first time to access a real stage and DJ a music set at a festival. This was a monumental milestone in his DJ career to be catered for, and his confidence just grew! He had planned the set for Friday and when he was asked to DJ again on Saturday without anything prepared, he just wasn’t to be stopped!

Bringing everyone together who usually may struggle at a regular festival was joyous. Rocking it out at the front of stage was magical for everyone.

The back stage crew that put this together worked tirelessly and they can’t be thanked enough for bringing their vision to life and enhancing so many lives in doing so. Their passion for bringing accessible festivalling to all is so positive and I have to add that whilst a festival for my son, it wasn’t as loud or obnoxious as some festivals can be with multiple stages. This was a wonderful celebration of music and people.

Thank you for putting this event in and can’t wait for next time.

I wanted to say thank you for what Bass Therapy did for us that day. I’ve never taken the kids to a festival before because I’ve been worried about how H would find the crowds, noise, etc. We won the tickets in a raffle and I thought, why not? Thanks to the space you provided, we had the best day. We came and went all day – it gave us somewhere to be that was quiet and a break for H, but most importantly it was a space for us where we were totally accepted. Everyone in your organisation made us feel we could just be. I felt emotional on the day having something for our family. At the end of the day, H said she wanted to go to more festivals if they had inclusive areas like the one you provided – needless to say, we have booked tickets for J-Fest and can’t wait to enjoy it as a family. Thank you for spreading acceptance, love, and fun. If any of my comments are helpful in persuading other festivals to have a space for Bass Therapy please feel free to use them.

Music is a really important part of our lives. We listen to all sorts of music with Oscar and we love watching him react and express his preferences to what he enjoys. Something I had always wanted to do was to take him to a music festival but there were always too many barriers in the way of his disabilities to enable us to go.
Having the opportunity to attend J-Fest this year was a dream come true for us. Being able to share the experience of live music with Oscar and for him to be able to attend an event that his peers might was really important.
I can safely say this was the highlight of the year and the memories we have will be treasured for a long time to come. We sincerely hope J-Fest returns.

My princess R had an awesome weekend at J-Fest, Bass Therapy, her first music festival. There were smiles, laughter, loads of dancing, and we met some lovely people there. A massive thank you to J-Fest, Kyley, and everyone involved in organising and making this event fantastic, an experience we both will never forget.

Freya, our daughter has profound special needs and uses a wheelchair at all times, but despite this Freya loves life; she especially adores music and bright lights.

Last summer we saw an article in the Oxford Mail about the upcoming JFest event and it seemed ideal for Freya so we decided to travel down from Banbury.

The event exceeded all our expectations.

It felt so inclusive, everybody was made welcome regardless of any disability. We could tell that the organisers really understood what it means to be in our situation - it was accessible but without being condescending. Freya was welcomed into the tent and she had the best time.

We sincerely hope J-Fest will continue, it would mean so much to us and be something to look forward to each year despite the difficult circumstances.

Fantastic arrangements for special needs today at the Witney Music Festival. This gets better every year Bass Therapy is involved and is the best we have seen around the country.

For Jack to be able to get out of his chair, having a hoist and profiling bed within your sensory space makes his visit to the festival possible. He can’t manage to be in his wheelchair for long periods of time; he needs to get out to prevent pressure sores, stiff limbs, as well as managing his airway and secretions. Jack loves being around people and having a good time, and getting onto his bed for a good stretch, so to be able to get out onto a profiling bed, still in the mix of the fun, where his posture can be supported properly, is essential. We have bought tickets for Truck Festival on the understanding that you guys were finally going to be there with this provision, so we hope that is still the case.

Bass Therapy’s presence at our festival was a game-changer. Attendees loved the inclusive spaces, and we saw a noticeable increase in overall satisfaction.

A young man is lying on a profile bed in a sensory space. He is incredibly comfy and content. He is holding a plush teddy. Behind his is a curtain with the Bass Therapy logo repeated across it.
A Mum and Daughter are happily dancing at J-Fest. The band is on stage behind them as well as the sign language interpreter.
